Michael and Riley are the real-life example of the "invisible string theory". They grew up just 24 miles from one another. Attending rival high schools, unbeknownst to them, Riley was actually watching Mikey play football for Palm Beach Central on the Boca High field. But, this is not where their story starts. It took Michael 5 years in Colorado, and Riley another 4 in Florida and 1 in Massachusetts before they would meet for the first time. It was in a Fenway Bar where they first laid eyes on one another.
